ABOUT ME

Mr. Afamefuna (Afam) Nwokedi has over 25 years of practice experience especially in the areas of intellectual property law. He is the Principal Counsel and Group Head of Stillwaters Law Firm. Mr. Nwokedi has been involved in several intellectual property (IP) law initiatives, building processes and case law development in Nigeria. He was a member of the Federal Government Committee for the establishment of Intelectual Property Commission in Nigeria, a member of the Nigerian delegation to OHADA (African Association for the Harmonisation and Development of Commercial Law) with particular representation on IP issues, he has worked closely with the Commercial Law Development Programme (CLDP) of the United States Department of Commerce towards the harmonisation and setting up of an IP Commission in Nigeria and currently chairs many IP related initiatives. Mr. Nwokedi is the current Chairman of the IP Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association-Section on Business Law. Mr. Nwokedi advocates before the trial and appeal courts in Nigeria and has authored and presented several papers on intellectual property law both locally and internationally. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the "Nigeria Industrial Property Opposition Reports" and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants. Mr. Nwokedi serves on the board of several companies and is a member several local and international IP associations including: Association of European Lawyers (AEA), MARQUES, PTMG, INTA, AIPPI, BMM, IBA, IPLAN, APAA and many others. Mr. Nwokedi is an avid reader with a passionate chess player.
