ABOUT ME

Swati Veera is Senior In-House Patent Counsel at Indoco Remedies Limited. Swati holds Masters in Organic Chemistry and a law degree from Mumbai University. She is a registered Indian Patent Agent. Swati has over 22 Years of experience in dealing with all matters and procedures relating to patent law and practice, including strategic patent portfolio management; drafting and prosecuting world-wide patent applications; preparing pre-grant & post-grant opposition briefs; preparing opinions such as patentability, non-infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate opinions; due diligence investigations and supports patent litigation including Hatch-Waxman Litigations. In her current role as Senior In-House Patent Counsel at Indoco, Swati provides strategic expertise on a broad range of IP issues, advises senior management on IP issues that have legal implications, prepares opinions and deals with IP litigations. Prior to joining Indoco, Swati served as In-House Patent Counsel and Head of Patents Dept. at Piramal Healthcare Ltd., where she worked towards expanding Piramal’s Patent Portfolio, and handled patent infringement, FTO and invalidity issues for the generic business. During her tenure, Piramal won Pharmexcil “Platinum Patent Award” in 2014, for securing the most number of patents under overall category. She has also worked as patent professional for leading Indian Pharmaceuticals including Sun Pharma. and Lupin. She has also been actively involved in spreading patent awareness through the designing and lecturing of IP training courses. She is a frequent speaker in IP programs organised in India.
