ABOUT ME

Fabricio is the founding partner of VilelaCoelho IP and leads the firm’s patent and innovation team. He has over 15 years of experience in the field of IP with a distinguished practice focused on patent counseling, prosecution, due diligence and litigation. He obtained his Law degree at PUC/SP and a post-graduation Law degree in Intellectual Property at FGV/SP. He is currently obtaining a graduation from Software Analysis and Development at Laureate International. Fabricio has been advising clients in uncountable patent prosecution cases representing individuals, universities, start-ups and large corporations in various industry fields such as in general mechanics, electronics, automotive, medical devices, nanotechnology and telecommunications and he is currently orientating his patent practice to software and computer implemented inventions including robotics and artificial intelligence. His prosecution practice incorporates drafting agreements (licenses, NDAs, MoUs), legal opinions (patentability, invalidity, FTOs) and innovation strategies. He has also been involved in several patent litigation cases acting both as attorney and as judicial expert before the Courts with a notable expertise in enforcement procedures and cancelation actions. Fabricio has won two scientific paper contest promoted by IP entities about patents (‘Patents as a tool to economic development’) and trademarks (‘Trademark dilution’). He is a registered Industrial Property Agent before the Patent and Trademark Office of Brazil (INPI) and an active member of international associations such as AIPPI, APAA, AIPLA, INTA and ASIPI and recently was part of the INTA Committee related to IP emerging issues. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
