ABOUT ME

Igor Simões is the Managing Partner of Simoes Intellectual Property. He is a Brazilian Patent & Trademark Attorney highly specialized in performing legal and technical work in the intellectual property area. He has more than 20 years of experience assisiting international clients in IP matters. He was Professor of Patent Law in the postgraduate course of Intellectual Property and Unfair Competition Law of Candido Mendes University Law School from 2010 until 2014. He was Vice chairman of the Patent Commission in the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association from 2005 until 2006. He graduated in Chemical Engineering from Federal Fluminense University, in 1999, and Law from Candido Mendes University, in 2009. Igor’s experience includes management and prosecution of IP portfolios ranging in size from a few to dozens of national and international cases. His practice involves providing intellectual property advice to a broad range of clients, with a particular focus on IP strategy, portfolio management, licensing and litigation. Igor’s practice also focuses on the preparation of patentability, invalidity and freedom to operate opinions. Igor helps IP departments to save costs and time by managing IP work for Latin American countries as a single point of contact in the region. He has great experience in patent and trademark matters in Latin America. Igor is author and co-author of several publications on intellectual property law and frequently lectures on Brazil’s patent law in Brazil and abroad. He is listed in the Brazilian magazine Os Mais Admirados do Direito (The Most Admirable Law Practitioners), edition of 2006. In 2010, he was considered by the Foreign Affairs Institute of University of São Paulo (USP) one of the 5 most influential IP attorneys in Brazil.
