ABOUT ME

Colin worked as a graduate mechanical engineer in the petrochemical industry for a number of years, before joining a large South Africa IP practice in 1997 as trainee patent attorney. In the following years, he obtained his law degree and an LL.M, was admitted as attorney at law, registered as a patent attorney and became a partner of the law firm, but he joined Brian Bacon Inc. in 2005. His practice has been fairly diverse in aspects of IP law, including trade mark and copyright work and including litigation, but focused on drafting, filing and prosecuting patent and design matters in South Africa and abroad, with experience in drafting and prosecuting in technical fields including mechanical devices, packaging, mining and construction, medical devices, pharmaceutics, polymer processing, process engineering and automation, electronics and information technology.
